What a great find !

We love Casa Sol Mar. It is gated, so we felt very secure. The communal area around the pool was an added feature, we enjoyed mingling with other guests. The pool was always maintained and in this heat used greatly. Our little apartment became home away from home and was comfortable & clean with everything we needed.( Yeah !! King size bed ) Fantastic that it was 1 .5 blocks to the beach. We walked the beach every morning , except 4 of the days. It is an awesome beach ! ! ! First time to the Yucatan and we are glad we chose Progreso. Small enough to learn everything about it and make our way around. It has everything you need and you do not need a car. We took a bus to Chicxulub and a bus to Chelem, where you have to go to "Tacomaya". We took the bus to Merida twice, great city. The Malecon in Progreso is a beautiful place to stroll ( Milkbar has great Coconut shrimp ) calle 80/78, nice shops & restaurants as well as many great finds on some side streets. The people of Progreso and beyond are friendly. Prices for groceries and eating out sooo reasonable. We will definitely be back and hope to return with family and friends. Nora ( Head maid) looked after us well and was very sweet. Kurt ( Manager) was the go-to-guy and was a wealth of information. Always returned our calls promptly and helped make our stay easier. He graciously lent us his personal BBQ and actually dragged it over to us. Thanks !!! Kurt.     Adios y hasta luego!!!

Great getaway

We stayed at this wonderful condo for the month of January 2016. It is close enough to the beach ( 1 block ) to enjoy but not so close that you have noise. The town of Progreso is a lovely place to visit, great restaurants and lots to do . Casa Sol Mar is perfectly situated for excursions, with or without a car. There is a travel agent one block away who works very well with guests. All the other guests when we were there were delightful and we had a wonderful time getting to know new people and enjoy a new place. After the hustle and bustle of Cancun, it was great. Merida, the capital of Yucatan is only a short drive or taxi away, and has lots of culture and even more great restaurants. The manager, only a block away, was great to work with. We were lucky to have Ron and Carol, two of the owners there when we were. What great people! Can't wait to go again.

Thanks for a comfortable home away from home. Dee Dee and Doc.

What a treasure you have here. Thank you for sharing it with us. The reality actually exceeded our rather high expectations. Close to the beach yet away from the crowds with excellent and varied shopping nearby. The building is clean, well maintained & secure, allowing you to feel safely esconced in small-town Mexico. Infinitely preferable to the larger, sterile, resorts & hotels.

When can we come back ??

The atmosphere here reflects that of Progreso - friendly & caring. The location and company are great, plus there is security for the solo traveller. A winning combination !

We spent the month of September 2013 at Casa sol Mar in Progreso, MX. Casa sol Mar is located one Mexico block off the Malecon that runs along the beautiful turquoise beaches of the Gulf of Mexico. This was a perfect location because we wanted to experience the Malecon and all its restaurants, bars and shopping opportunities, but didn't want to deal with all the people. When you wanted to appreciate quiet time, it was a very short 3 minute walk back to Casa sol Mar and its comfortable confines. The Malecon Drive is one of the biggest attraction is Progreso. You have to see it to appreciate it. There are also beach & water views from the upper balconies and the roof top of Casa sol Mar.

Casa sol Mar offers everything you need for a week or 2 stay. If you decide to stay longer, consultant the property manager for more details. The condo offers plenty of room. It has a separate bedroom, modern bathroom, fully equipment kitchen and a living room area that has cable TV and WiFi. The condo was very clean and no signs of insects. The complex’s common area offers a pool, an outdoor kitchen and a sitting bar for your enjoyment. It also has an outside shower, a half bath, TV and stereo. The neighborhood around Casa sol Mar is very family friendly with the nicest locals you will ever meet.
My wife and I travel a lot and our stay in Progreso, MX and Casa del Mar is on our top 10 list for places to stay. The property’s management offers superior service. The service we received rank’s #1 on our list.

Best Place To Stay in Progreso

Casa Sol Mar is the perfect place to stay while you experience real Mexico and enjoy its history, people, and culture. The accommodations and location were superb - very clean and secure, with a nice pool, comfortable beds, well-equipped kitchens, and modern bathrooms. All this and only steps from the Malecon where you'll find excellent restaurants and everything else it has to offer. It's only a 10 minute walk to the main street of town and all its amenities, including a well stocked grocery store. The main bus depot to Merida (just over $2 return), the fresh meat and produce market, and the main city square are also in the downtown core - no need for a car! We were so impressed with Casa Sol Mar that we've already booked for 2012!

Paradise in Progreso

Jim and I visit Progreso at least twice a year and love the whole experience. This time, however, the experience was much more than we expected. Our stay at Casa Sol Mar was a wonderful getaway. From the moment the property manager, Jaromey met us to show us around and provide us with the keys we were amazed at how beautiful Casa Sol Mar really is. For those who look on the website as we did initially, all I can say is that it has so much more to offer than can be shown. The facilities are beautifully maintained from the pool, the outside community kitchen and the units which are like a home away from home. As serene as it is, it is right in the heart of the Malecon with wonderful restaurants and bars where visitors can meet at Buddy's where all the ex-pats gather for excellent food, drinks and very nice and attentive servers. I would definitely recommend Casa Sol Mar for anyone wanting a taste of luxury in Progreso. I've already contacted Jaromey regarding our next visit in the Spring.

Casa Sol Mar - Clean Bright and Fun

Stayed here with family and it was great. As for the building it is topnotch clean, well appointed and functional. We stayed in the bottom unit on the street side. This unit was large and had plenty of space for us and more room for the beach stuff outside our room. Having a (secure) parking spot is great if you rent a car. The building itself is secure and the other guests were great plus there was room for everyone in the courtyard and outdoor kitchen. The kids spent a lot of time in the pool and playing ball in the covered parking area...also good for hammocks!
The furnishings were solid, clean and tasteful. From just looking around the town (we were there 10 days) it was one of the nicer places for sure and always a nice place to come home to.
We usually went for a roof top cocktail and from there you could see around quite well and over to the beach strip and ocean. There was a car rental agency close by with a Mexican/Canadian couple so there was some easy to come by local tips.
Getting into Merida was easy even if you walk and use the public transit. The city is a bit cosmopolitan without the size of the larger cities so with young kids it was easy and fun.
If we were to go back to this area we would no doubt come back to Casa Sol Mar.

Christmas in Progreso

I stayed at Casa Sol Mar for a couple of weeks over Christmas last year. I found the accommodation to be very well presented, clean and in an excellent location. Moments from the beach, local bars, restaurants and shops. The apartment itself was very comfortable and airy, equipped fully to self cater if you fancy a night in. However this never happened on my trip, as the shared area with swimming pool and bar was a great place to chill out with friends, and meet some other guests that were holidaying in another apartment in the complex. Being Scottish, i didn't think i could have such a good time at Christmas without snow!

Great Place To Stay

Casa Sol Mar is exactly as described. One short block from the beach and easy walking distance to any shopping and all the best restaurants in Progreso. Casa Sol Mar is a great place to kick back after a hard day at the beach, shopping r exploring nearby the nearby Aztec ruins.

Each suite has its own full kitchen including a full sized fridge but the kitchen by the pool is what made the stay here really fun. It's a handy meeting place for guests to mingle if they want. The suites are huge and well equipped for any length of stay. I stayed in suite #5 which had the whole top floor to itself. The bathroom was gigantic. Wifi on the property enabled laptop surfing in the suite or down by the pool.

I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

I loved this place! Clean, modern, safe, economical...and wifi...and yes, hot water, the pix don't do it justice!! Perfect location 50 steps from the fabulous beach, lovely pool area for quieter times. The property manager (an awesome Canadian woman) was incredibly helpful. The town itself had everything one could want (as long as you aren't looking for big American style hotels). Nearby are flamingo and white pelican nesting grounds, several Mayan ruin sites and a 1/2 hour drive away is Merida, a bustling, culturally rich city. I'd go back in a minute...and would love to stay the winter!! I highly recommend it!
